Correct approach to music.

Music effects us all emotionally, we can’t deny that. But we shouldn’t rely on music to make us emotional about Jesus. That is done with time spent in prayer and feeding on God’s word, and most importantly the leading of the Holy Spirit who draws us to the Father and reveals Jesus to us.

The effects therefore that music has on us is for the glory of God. As we become moved joyfully or passionately we can take that and use it for the expression of Gods praise. Music has many qualities in our gatherings but this is just one, put simply music is a great tool for us to be focused and stirred to give the best expression of praise we can in that moment.

Emotional stimulation.

The power of music!
They say it’s the gate way to the soul.
What effect is our music having on the congregation? Ever
wondered?
Well- emotional expresion comes through (most times) vocal expression.
Let me explain- when we’re excited our voice pitch goes slightly higher:)
so taking that tonal pitch and saying the alphabet, you’re now saying it excitedly, try it?
Relating that to church- As we encourage singing in church we are actually uplifting the soul. How? As we begin to sing joyfuly we associate that with? Joy! The emotion of Joy is stirred.
Normally we have the emotion first then the vocal expression. It is reversed when we express the vocal expression first which leads to emotional stimulation as we associate emotion to the sound.
So remember this when wanting to take the service somewhere. The melody we use is the emotion felt and expressed. :)
